Activity Viewer and Log file

Thank you - that’s all great information. I’m going to spend a chunk of this week ending and restarting my items. I’ll plan to make this a regular part of my planning.

Hi Neal

Your post gave me food for thought. I wonder if part of my stop-restart queueing problems could be to to do with the fact that I stop so many items one hour before eBay re-lists them. I am watching most of the time but NOT ALL the time. I will consider changing it to 6 hours just to see what happens.

David, Good idea. Since you are running such a huge file through GS why not try 1 day? or a couple days? My GTC listings don’t sell in the last hour any way and Ebay is giving so many thousands of free listing per month so to go to a 1 day cancel routine shouldn’t cost more and maybe it will clear the last minute log jambs.

It is certainly worth a try, I think. It won’t solve all of the queueing issues but it may help.

An update… Last night (with a glass of wine in hand) I ended and then restarted 42 listings that had been GTC for over a year. The result today? Four good sales from those restarted items! I’m a convert…

Thank you all for the advice and help.

its hard to believe ebay considers those listing as “dead” and no one wants to see them let alone buy them. Don’t tell to many people ar ebay will change the algorithm.

I’ve been gradually poking the algorithm over the last few years, thanks to GS’s ability to change a bunch of things all at once. It’s still not clear to me whether an identical listing stopped and restarted counts as “different enough”, which is why I randomize the SKU or edit the description text slightly.

In the end it’s all superstition. I also sell more stuff on Friday and Monday, so maybe it’s the audience after all ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Honestly the best hypothesis is probably “most collectibles buyers look at the new listings feeds when they’re scrolling on the weekend…”

Generally my Saturdays and Sundays are best but probably caused by that is when my 7 day auctions end

That’s fantastic @SerenaN. You are obviously have a far better day than I am.
