Constant Synchronization failed (but seems to be syncing.)

Every 5 min or so OR, if I manually Sync in get a popup that says ( Synchronization failed An error occured while trying to download data from the synchronization server.) But the information seems to still be syncing everything between my 2 computers.

Please let us know which version of GarageSale 8 you have installed. (Just select ‘About GarageSale’ from the ‘GarageSale’ menu in GarageSale.)

GarageSale creates logs of the synching activities and saves it in a “SynchLog.txt” file. Could you send us the “SynchLog.txt” file?
These are the required steps:

  1. Open GarageSale 8.
  2. From GarageSale’s Help select “Open Library Folder”
  3. Locate the “SynchLog.txt” directory there and send it to us or post it here compressed as a zip file.

Both computers are using 8.0.4, And it downloads fine, just doesn’t upload the changes on one computer…

Even compressed it says:

Sorry, that file is too big (maximum size is 8072kb). Why not upload your large file to a cloud sharing service, then paste the link?

8.0.4 Says the ZIP file is also too big to email and post on the board…I will paste the end if the last sync info here. Please let me know if this works, or how else to send the file:

I Haven’t heard back from GS in several days… I was just able to send the Sync Log vial mail, as I explained last week, I could not put it here due to your size restrictions. It is a little less than 15mb. Please reply with some help, as I updated to the 8.0.5 and it still isn’t working on one computer, it just constantly gives me a sync error, and doesn’t upload my changes, however is downloads changes from the other computer… What steps should I take to resolve. Thanks again!

There are two unrelated issues here:

  1. At least on of your images is over the size limit we set for our synch server. Once you locate that image and remove it/or scale it down, you should be good. Here is how you might locate it:
  • In GarageSale, choose “Help” menu > “Open Library Folder”
  • Open the “ImageLibrary” folder
  • Sort that folder content’s by size

Do you see any particular large images (> 8 MB) there?

  1. The SynchLog file is too big for the forum software. You would have needed it to compress it as a zip file before upload, but I don’t think that’s necessary any longer.

  1. I just checked the ImageLibrary folder on both computers, and the largest image on both computers is only 4.1mb… So, it doesn’t appear to be that.

  2. I did compress the Sync log to a Zip file by holding the right click button and compressing as you said, and that took it from 69mb to just under 15mb and it said that was too big for your system. I was able to email it about an hour ago to garagesale@iwascoding.com directly and it did go through, I will attach again here and now…

Any update here? Kristian said he was forwarding the SyncLog over to Ilja to look at yesterday. I was able to get it to email to him./Please let me know, I would like to get the sync feature back up and running properly. Thank you!

Same here, on both machines.

I also get regular notifications, every few minutes or so!

Sorry, I cannot expend these zip files. Can you post them to Dropbox or something similar, if they are to big for this forum to accept.

The only way I could get the zip file to them is by sending it through a NEW email, not a reply. If you reply it has the same issue with posting on the board. Hope this helps, I was able to email it directly to garagesale@iwascoding.com and it did go through: Hope they are able to help us all, or fix the glitch…

Yes, thank you I did receive that this morning. Since it was only one of my machines, and I wasn’t making progress, I ended up completely deleting GarageSale and all of the files associated with it from the computer that wasn’t syncing. I reinstalled GarageSale and then downloaded everything from the cloud… Then imported the listing gap from eBay… I bit of a process but the time being everything seems to be working again on both of my machines. Seemed to be a doable work around. Thank you, Richard
