GarageSale 6.9 and HTTPS

Hi -

Will there be any support for HTTPS in 6.9? I currently do my own hosting and wondering wether to upgrade my hosting or with to GarageSale picture hosting. I also use a PRO template with my shop logo that I host, if I use GarageSale hosting can I post my logo there? Maybe start a sticky post about all things https? Thanks!

Pete

If your server supports HTTPS, you should be fine by just changing the http:// to https:// in the access path prefix field of your custom server configuration.

Having said that, you soon will be facing additional problems, as eBay will soon forbid links on images embedded into the description as currently generated by GarageSale.

So no support for 6.9? I haven’t upgraded because I have had no problems, is everyone still on an old version going to have to upgrade to comply?

Looks like this latest eBay change is the final nail in GS 6.9’s coffin, as we have no plans to back port all the various policy changes.

I know this is gonna though if you’re workflows are setup for GS 6.9, but we cannot invest resources into older GS versions forever.

Ilja,

In your reply above, you stated: “Having said that, you soon will be facing additional problems, as eBay will soon forbid links on images embedded into the description as currently generated by GarageSale.”

Were you talking about an issue concerning 6.9 and earlier only, or something that will affect all versions w/ descriptions? I use 7.0.8 and have coded images that link to my eBay store. Will this be a future problem? Or am I reading too much into this . . .

Actually all GarageSale versions are affected. We just released GarageSale 7.0.9 Beta which no longer will adds links to images.

It seems we got eBay’s developer communication wrong. We initially thought the new requirement for links would be that there have to be using the https protocol and open in a new window. Seems we were wrong on this , and all links, except those linking to other eBay pages are soon outlawed.
