GarageSale 7.0.9 Beta 4 Released

Dear GarageSale Users,

The fourth beta version of GarageSale 7.0.9 is available for you to download from the URL below, or from the built-in updater if you are running a previous beta version:

https://downloads.iwascoding.com/downloads/GarageSale_7.0.9b4.dmg

What’s new in since the last beta release

  • GarageSale will no longer add clickable links to images it embeds into your listing description on eBay, as these links are no longer allowed by eBay. Instead of clicking on images, buyers now need to use their browser’s context menu to open a full-size view of the image

What’s new in GarageSale 7.0.9

  • performance improvements when selecting or duplicating large number of listings
  • ‘New’ menu in the main menubar now matches the ‘New’ popup menu in the main window’s toolbar
  • the menu item for creating scheduler events from listing now a has account submenu like the ‘Start listing’ command when you have more than one eBay account authorised in GarageSale
  • added ‘Cancel’ button to ‘Wait on Quit’ panel
  • fixed a problem where changes to various amount fields weren’t correctly reflected in smart groups
  • instead of uploading them again, GarageSale now re-uses images that were uploaded to a custom image server before its configuration was changed to use the HTTPS protocol for image download
  • fixed resizing quirks in the scheduler window
  • various crash fixes

System Requirements

  • GarageSale 7 requires OS X 10.10 or later

Thanks for using GarageSale,
Ilja on behalf of the iwascoding team

@ilja excuse me, please could you explain what is exactly the new method for showing images full size? This is a BIG problem since I use two (small) photos in top of description and it was so useful to open them in a new page with full size. Before downloading it I really need to know how to proceed, thanks god ebay.it is still not affected by this useless and annoying restriction…
Any explanation would be really really appreciated…

It means that your potential buyers have to smart enough to figure out that they can view a larger version of your image by invoking the “Open Image in” command from their browsers context menu:

P.S. I don’t understand this policy change by eBay either. I can only suppose bad people were abusing that feature for some kind of fraud…

:hushed: oh dear… that’s a problem. Honestly @ilja , forgetting what you daily do, do you think there are many people (… I don’t say many people that think about doing that)… I say people that actually know it is possible to do… ?? And think that me (and so thousands of other users) sell antiques and collectibles, which generally means not so young people/buyers , which generally means people/buyers (at least here in Italy) who can use “not so very well” the computer… you understand what I mean. That’s actually something almost impossible to do… and to be really honest, probably I wouldn’t think about doing that to enlarge (and I am not old enough to justify that missing)… so, please let me know this is a VERY BIG problem. I suppose that the only solution is the “zooming” when you move over image the mouse. Do you agree? But… what on smartphones? There you cannot do that kind of “zooming” and if you cannot open it in a new page… ?? Besides… I have just discovered that it is not possible to put 2 images on the top of description with the zoom, am I wrong?

Excuse me if so many questions but good photos means selling good… and not good photos means selling less/selling and receiving trouble by people who “could not see damages in photos” (and that’s a serious problem)… and trust me that there is plenty of this guys who “cannot see damages” also if they are described in description…

Any suggestion would be (very!) appreciated

Summarizing, GS team I think you should find a way to let “not smart” buyers able to zoom images…

Not sure that this is possible, since JavaScript is also outlawed by eBay.

You could use the image caption feature to let your users know that they can access a bigger version of the picture through the browsers context menu.

Hi @ilja , I never used the image caption feature and I don’t know how it works, but I suppose I would need to write it every time for every photo, am I wrong?

Not possible any longer due to eBay’s new link policy.
Does the “Thumb Zoom” layout work for you?

Regards, Kristian

Is it the last one?

“Zoom Miniatura”? Yes, that’s the “Thumb Zoom” layout.

Regards, Kristian

I tried to modify a listing, honestly it is not very beautiful… besides I think it does not work. If you move mouse over images nothing happen, also clicking… http://www.ebay.it/itm/Vecchio-accendino-da-collezione-in-peltro-Cremona-vintage-lighter-/282541465698

What exactly should do that “thumb zoom”?

It works super-nice here in Safari…

Uhm what should it do? Here nothing happens…

Mouse is not visible in the screen, but moving it over the image I see the “hand” instead of mouse but no zoom, no clickable…

Your mouse cursor is not visible?
What browser do you use?

Safari 10.1.2 (12603.3.8) . Mouse is not visible only in the screenshot, it is actually there. Why doesn’t it work here??

It’s working without any trouble here in Safari 10.1.2. No idea why it doesn’t work for you. Maybe you have a Safari or system extension installed which is causing it.

Regards, Kristian

I have no extensions…

what does it exactly do for you? A zoom when you move mouse over it?

Exactly:
