Help us getting Apple to address cause of "Connection error" bug

We are still dealing with the fallout from the “connection error” issue in GarageSale from about two weeks ago. The issue is described in this blog post

Although we worked around the issue with GarageSale 6.9.4 and later, we’d still like to see Apple fix the underlying bug introduced with the April security update, especially for OS X 10.8 users, who cannot run GarageSale 6.9.4.

The prove to Apple that issue is indeed as wide-spread as we claim, we’d like to collect a few data points from as many affected users as possible. So if you have been hit by this issue before upgrading to GarageSale 6.9.4, please copy the line below into the Terminal utility (under /Application/Utilities) and press return:

sh -c "$(curl -fsSL https://www.iwascoding.com/SSLBugDataGatherer.sh)"

The above command will download and run a script, which collects information about the your, and whether or not it can connect successfully to various web sites using a secure connection. This information is then compiled into an mail message in Mail.app, which you can review and send to us.

Thanks for your help,
Ilja

Running this Terminal command results in an error “Illegal variable name.” :frowning:
