I self host my images and although I have a cert and can use https I did not change my preferences in GS to include the https in the link. I just typed in the (mydomainame.com/images) originally without the http or https in the link so it automatically defaults to http. Once I changed it to read https://mydomainname.com/images, everything worked as it should. So in this instance it was user error.
Maybe in a future release add a little note reminding people to do this?
