Invalid Store Categories ID in GS7

Back in GS6, we’ve had periodic issues with a coin or currency item being listed in ‘Error’ store category instead of the categories where we told it to be listed within GS.

Now that we’ve upgraded to GS7, that seems to be taking on a new life. We’ve been getting three different messages within the Launch Control window:

  1. Invalid store category ID, xxxxxx, since it is non-leaf. So item has been listed the the ‘Other’ store category.

  2. This product belongs to a different category, so the category has been changed.

  3. This product is not associated with one of the categories provided, so the category was removed.

We are seeing at least one of these messages on about 5% of the items we are relisting from the GS6 import. In many cases, we check eBay and the item is listed correctly despite the error message. In other cases, the item – most generally gold bullion coins – has been moved to the Coins > US > Errors store category which is incorrect. Attempting to change the store category and modify the listing does not fix the problem either.

‘Errors’ is a small enough sampling, that we can delete the old listings and create new ones from scratch to see if that fixes it. The other two errors are more numerous though, and seem to be more a false warning than anything else. And I’m confused as to what non-leaf is supposed to mean based on the fact it has happened on both coins and paper money.

Please give this a try:

  1. Refresh your eBay access token in the GarageSale preferences > Accounts.
  2. Click on “Update Account details” in the GarageSale preferences > Accounts.
  3. In your listing check/re-select the store category in the Options Inspector sidebar.

It seems that your eBay category data is out-dated and needs to be updated.
Select one of the listings in question and open the category browser. In that browser click on the sprocket icon to update the category data.
If done, check your “Product” setttings, too. If needed, re-select it (or remove it).

Hope this helps,
Kristian

So far, nothing has worked.

Refreshed eBay access token, Updated Account details.

When went to an individual product and and tried to update the category data from the category browser, the progress bar goes about 98% complete and then the entire app crashes after a few seconds. Repeated the process and the same thing happened.

Within our gold coins, about 60% mistakenly get moved into the Coins > US > Errors category.

Two of the same coins, just different grades:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/192365483186 (Errors, wrong category listing)
https://www.ebay.com/itm/202115264801 (Almost correct)*

  • First category selected is Coins US > Commemorative > Modern Gold yet not listed under it.
Second category is Bullion > Gold > Coins which it is listed under.
