ShippingPackageIsMissing Error

This is for a listing with business policies stating shipping by weight/size or calculated shipping.

I picked the type of package in the business policies. UPS Ground and USPS Ground.

Still getting this error.

Is this something within GS or with the business policies.

All other BP are correct except this one when choosing calculated shipping BP.

Thank you for any advice.

Have you included the box dimensions in GS?

I too was getting this message when revising a listing. All my info was correct and filled in but I was getting the message. Try refreshing your access token first. The only way I could get rid of it was ending the listing and restarting it. I haven’t seen it for a couple of weeks.

I do not use eBay policies.

I also do not include package dimensions unless the package is:

  1. I offering USPS services and it exceeds one cubic foot or exceeds one of the length surcharges.

  2. I am offering UPS Ground.

Some 99.9% of packages do not require dimensions so all I do is duplicate a existing template based upon shipping scenarios and a weight.

For those packages requiring dimensions I duplicate one of the existing templates as before and enter the dimensions.

Any packages with a significant difference in pricing due to discounts due to Cubic pricing can be fixed via a refund to the buyer.

eBay will calculate the rate based upon the weight if the dimensions are eliminated. If dimensions are included then the rate will be computed on the weight or dimensions.

eBay; however, can’t accurately display USPS Cubic rates or determine if packages are subject to dimensional rates as they do not allow decimal values in the listing form and have instructed software publishers to not allow them. eBay tells customers to round up dimensions to the nearest inch, which violates USPS regulations. PirateShip follows USPS rounding rules - not eBay rules designed to rip its users off.

Starting August 18, FedEx and UPS will round up all package dimensions - length, width, and height - to the next whole inch. To avoid unexpected charges, make sure to round up your measurements for accurate shipping rates.

I am not seeing the logic there.

If they are going to round up dimensions you input then there is no reason for you to round up your dimensions.

I’ve had one package flagged by UPS in 26 years and I won that case as it was sent in a standardized box with known size.

If they decide to retract this policy then you many need to go back once again edit your dimensions.

I offer UPS and USPS on some listings as one is cheaper for certain zip codes and the other is cheaper for other zip codes. If eBay actually fixes their policy of rounding up dimensions for USPS, which violates USPS policy, then your package dimensions will be wrong for USPS.

Having wrong rounded up dimensions for USPS could mean paying the next highest Cubic tier rate or disqualifying the package from Cubic rates in addition to subjecting packages to dimensional rates when they should not be.

From looking at eBay’ Developer Program briefly it stated that software developers were suppose disavow decimal values. If you are using Garage Sale that could mean GS is rounding up values and submitting them per previous talk on this forum or submitting decimal values and eBay is rounding them up on the back end.

If it was up to me eBay would be given 30 days to fix its rounding fraud and FVF on shipping fraud or loose their USPS discounts.

No logic, just posted what ebay said on the top of every page. If ebay is perpetrating a fraud why give them 30 days? They should be fixed immediately

eBay is violating USPS regulations in regards to rounding decimal values up to the nearest inch.

PirateShip follows USPS regulations regarding rounding - not eBay’s rules.

Priority Cubic rates are rounded DOWN to the nearest 1/4" to compute the pricing tier. eBay’s calculator tool accepts decimal values, but does not round the values correctly. Ebay’s listing form does not accept decimal values. This means certain packages will be charged the next highest tier rate or be disqualified from the Cubic rates tiers when they should not be.

eBay’ calculator tool correctly qualifies or disqualifies packages from the dimensional rate as its not rounding up the decimal values you enter. The listing form on the other hand does not accept decimal values so some packages will display the dimensional rate to customer when it should not. The difference can be so great the customer will never order the item.

A 12.4" x 12.4" x 12.4" package is over a cubic foot, but is not subject to dimensional rates as each dimension is rounded down to 12". eBay’s calculator rounds the values to the nearest inch so even but not eBay’s listing form as decimal values can’t entered.

eBay is being given 30 days for the same reason as any other large company found violating the law. So they have time to create the correct coding, test it, implement on a limited basis and then on a full basis. Perhaps write some code yourself first.
