Noticed on eBay’s website I had a repeat buyer, which I always like to reward with a coupon. eBay’s interface makes it easy to see what their prior orders were. But I decided to look in GS to see what the prior order was. Searching all fields as well as just Buyer Name, came up empty.
Turns out the buyer’s name is completely different than the names GS pulled in for both Buyer and Shipping Address. In fact, I’ve never seen a difference in those 2 fields now that I think about it. Is GS pulling in the right data for “Buyer”? It does not appear to be doing so, or the eBay API is giving the wrong info. The only info that matches is the buyer account info - the first/last name just don’t show up in GS.
It is not missing. In GS the data for Buyer [and their address] is the exact same as Shipping Address.
In eBay, the buyer’s name is completely different than the name for the above 2 fields. I guess as the holiday season kicks in, I will notice more of these as I rarely pay attention to the eBay website fields, but just happened to notice it due to the repeat customer tag.
So, in my case, the Buyer: and Shipping Address: fields in GS are identical [always], and in this case, the name is Eva ABCDE but the eBay website shows the buyer as Heather XYZ [changing the last names obviously].
Oh I am sure this is a gift purchase, and I’m not at all worried about that. It’s just the fact that GS reports the wrong name [and maybe address] for the buyer vs. the shipping address. In all the time I’ve been using GS, I’ve never seen those 2 addresses differ, but doing a quick lookup, there’s been plenty of customers on eBay that have a different buyer name than the one in GS, as it appears GS is just duplicating the shipto name/address
