eBay send mail my ads are not secure, uses HTTP no HTTPS

eBay send me an mail that some of my ads made with Garagesale are not secure according to the new Policy from Chrome. I Uploaded my pictures to my own webspace i got from my Domain provider. And it has no SSL security. What are the options now?

  • Ask the provider to SSL the Servers?
  • Use another source?
  • Use eBay self for saving pictures?

Who uses Chrome anyway? I Wonder how secure chrome is because of data protection and security. It is from Google, the world biggest Data collector. But that’s another story…

eBay requires all images that are embedded in the listing description to use the secure HTTPS protocol instead of non-secure HTTP protocol, e.g. images that use a “http://” URL.

If you are using your own image server with GarageSale via FTP or webDAV, please make sure that your server is supporting HTTPS requests for your images resources. If your server already supports HTTPS requests, makes sure the the “Download URL” field in GarageSale’s configuration for your server starts with “https://” instead of “http://”, so you are compliant with the new eBay rules.

If your server does not support https you should consider to switch to GarageSale’s free image service or EPS in the GarageSale preferences > eBay > eBay Images.

GarageSale embeds images via HTTPS since version 7.0.8 of GarageSale if EPS or GarageSale’s free image service is selected in the GarageSale preferences.
