Garage sale 8 not linking to old database

had to reinstall garagesale 8 and it won’t link to the old database which I can see in the library/containers/com.garagesale folder. when I reinstalled garagesale 8 i didn’t get the screen where it says to either start fresh or link to old database.

Please note that GarageSale 8 is an outdated version, not compatible with the current eBay system. You most likely won’t be able to use that old version any longer with eBay.

Can you check the full name of that GarageSale database by opening its “Information” panel in Finder, please? A GarageSale 8 database is named “com.iwascoding.garagesale8”.
Also, there might be more than one “GarageSale” database folders at that location.

FYI: You only get that screen if you start GarageSale 8 for the very first time and if it finds a database of an older GarageSale 7 database.

Thank you very much for your reply. I was not intending to use GarageBand eight, only to restore the database and then upgrade to your current addition. I read that I would have to do something to the database to make it compatible with nine, but if I couldn’t get the database back in eight, there’s no database to move to nine. The reason why I wanted that database was there are items that I put up for auction that didn’t sell that I want to try to sell again and I hope they wouldn’t have to rewrite all the descriptions and Staats.
If I have to start from scratch, that’s what it is. I was hoping it would be otherwise.

Yes, the database is named com.iwascoding.garagesale8 and there is no other.

Garagesale has been a big help to me, I’ve sold a considerable number of things using Garagesale.

Hi Don,

if the “com.iwascoding.garagesale8” database folder is placed at the right location in your User Library and GarageSale 8 opens up empty, then your GarageSale database most likely seems to be empty, unfortunately.

• You might want to check if you are looking at the correct location:
Macintosh HD > Users > YourName > Library > Containers
(the User Library is hidden by default)

• Do you have another GarageSale database from your backup that you can try?
