Hi @ilja, does it concern the warning we discussed in the other thread?

you dont let the Coding Elves in support have much of a a break over Christmass holidays … hahahah now that is support…

Uhm what are you referring to? Sorry I don’t understand, what’s coding elves :joy: ?? If you refer to a new release at 10 p.m. between Christmas and New Years, yes that’s something I think happen only here

Santas Little Helpers that write in C++… hahahah

Just a little question: You write “added support for an upcoming change to eBay’s image upload system” - does that mean that there will be problems with version 6 in the near future? We still use 6.9.8 as our productive version (it will be a lot of work for us to get version working in our workflow, I try to avoid that as long as possible…).

Hi @markus, the reply is yes, not in the future but also now. ebay new policies require you to use https and mobile friendly designs, options which are not included in GS 6 since it is an old version. You really should start to think about upgrading. Honestly I don’t know how you can still using it…

Im am running more that 1000 auctions constantly, no problem at all with 6.9.8, avoiding the https thing was not difficult (https://www.ebay.de/sch/realrecyclers/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_ipg=&_from=)
I am just wondering if something will change that I don´t know about and that will completely render 6.9.8 unusable for me.
The mobile support is bad, o.k., so far not a real problem.
Updating to 7 will give me a lot of problems, because at the moment I use GS more or less as the interface between ebay and Filemaker, using lots of apple script an GUI scripting. So I would have to completely rewrite those routines. I know I will have to that in the near future, but I normally hold on to the two wise phrases: Never change a running system - Don´t fix it if it is not broken.

eBay is about to change how EPS image uploads work at some point in early in 2018. With this beta version we tweaked our code so it works on the old and on the new system as far as we currently know.

If you are uploading images to EPS and still using GS 6, you probably need to upgrade to GS 7. If you are only using url-based images in GS 6, you should be fine.

I am also still happily and successfully using version 6.9.8 and have no desire to upgrade to version 7 given all the issues discussed on this board and the User Interface changes and also the major change to my workflow process. I use EPS (eBay Picture Service) for photos. PLEASE SERIOUSLY CONSIDER making the minimal changes necessary to version 6.9.8 to allow it to continue to function properly. Thank You.

You can download the 7 version and give it a try without giving up GS 6, they works separately.

Advantages are much more than issues, and those issues are minimal

and the User Interface changes [/quote]

I find much better the 7 interface

That was too my worry at first, but now I have to say almost nothing changed in my workflow, and what changed was in better.

Anyway, this is just a personal suggestion…

I echo what Federico said, I was a version 6 holdout, and was worried about the workflow changes with 7, but I quickly adapted. At some point soon, Ebay will probably make enough changes so that version 6 will not work anymore. As a former IT guy, when you know that the end is near, best to start making the change slowly yourself, rather then wait for the day that EBAY won’t take your listings anymore and freaking out.

Sorry, there will be no further patches for GS 6.

Even if we would take the time to build a fixed version ( downgrade a Mac to an old version of macOS, so we can install the Xcode version used to build GS6; create a and test a patch), the next breaking eBay change might be just around the corner, rendering all the previous patching useless.

That time is better spent working on current and upcoming version of GarageSale.

I understand that this does not help you at all, but at some point you will need to say Good Bye to GS 6.
