Running GS 9 and switching back to GS 8

Since GarageSale 9 uses a different application identifier, you’ll need to grant it access to each eBay token in your Mac’s keychain. When the system displays such a permission panel, please click the ‘Always Allow’ button if available.

GarageSale 9 will copy all your data from GarageSale 7 or 8 into its own library folder. In case you are encountering problems you can always switch back to GS 7/8 and continue were you left off before switching to GS9.
You’d need to use the GarageSale’s import/export functions to bring back listings changed or created with GS9 into your earlier version of GarageSale.

Synching

GarageSale 9 uses a different data schema compared to previous versions. When GarageSale 9 connects to the sync server for the first time, your account is upgraded to this new schema version.
Afterwards, earlier version of GarageSale can longer connect to the sync server.

Licensing during Beta phase

For now, GarageSale 9 Beta will accept existing GarageSale 8 licenses.

Cost

The costs for upgrading from an earlier version of GarageSale to version 9 are USD/EUR 14.99 for the single user license. If you purchased your license for GarageSale 8 after August 1st, 2021, your upgrade will be free.

GarageSale Pro subscribers don’t need to pay any upgrade fees to use GS 9.

The “Options, Advanced, Properties” glitch is still periodically showing up. The way to get rid of it is to slightly widen the panel on both sides. I am now running 12.2.1 and this was showing periodically in 10.15 as well

I have 4 listings (so far) that cause instant shut down. I cant get the report info but I do click the send to GS report. I believe those 4 are ebay Motors USA but I cant reproduce that by changing others to that dropdown setting. After 4 instant shutdown and restart I tried to change a different listing to ebay Motors USA and went back to the original 4 and now they don’t cause a instant shutdown so maybe it fixed itself?

I’m not sure how new this behavior is, it’s been here most of 9.0 I think, but if I choose my folder with all 7,700 listings, there is a 15 second spinning beach ball of Death. I went back and checked GS 8.4.1 and the same folder opens instantly with no beach ball at all.

YES!! I have also noticed this! I have sent in a couple SpinDump and Sample.

I have waited much more than 15 seconds on some selections, then done a Force Quit…

I am guessing its checking something and don’t like to force quit unless it’s really stuck. Sort of like the annoying gear that says “downloading categories” when you open a new listing. GS really could wait or do it when I’m not working on a listing. I don’t add new categories THAT often.

Selecting several listings like 5 or 6 “ended” listings, then clicking “start” to Start them New, will duplicate the listings and open the Launch Control window and then click Start.

But, the selected item (only 1) appears down the list about 5 or 6 listings… The selection moves and hilights the wrong item. Only when doing a Start on ended items. Relist works correctly. Probably has to do with location of newly duplicated items.

Also… I have never been able to figure out WHY doing a Relist is FAST for the Launch Control window to appear. But, if I do a Start on “ended” listings, it takes several seconds for the Launch Control window to appear. Seems like the “start” “duplication” of all the listings up front before the Launch Control window shows up takes a few seconds. And Maybe the relisted items are “duplicated” after/when each one is actually listed???

Neal

Exactly. Duplication is expensive and starting previously started listings another time does this upfront, while re-listings waits until the relist command sent to eBay has succeeded.
