Running GS 9 and switching back to GS 8

Since GarageSale 9 uses a different application identifier, you’ll need to grant it access to each eBay token in your Mac’s keychain. When the system displays such a permission panel, please click the ‘Always Allow’ button if available.

GarageSale 9 will copy all your data from GarageSale 7 or 8 into its own library folder. In case you are encountering problems you can always switch back to GS 7/8 and continue were you left off before switching to GS9.
You’d need to use the GarageSale’s import/export functions to bring back listings changed or created with GS9 into your earlier version of GarageSale.

Synching

GarageSale 9 uses a different data schema compared to previous versions. When GarageSale 9 connects to the sync server for the first time, your account is upgraded to this new schema version.
Afterwards, earlier version of GarageSale can longer connect to the sync server.

Licensing during Beta phase

For now, GarageSale 9 Beta will accept existing GarageSale 8 licenses.

Cost

The costs for upgrading from an earlier version of GarageSale to version 9 are USD/EUR 14.99 for the single user license. If you purchased your license for GarageSale 8 after August 1st, 2021, your upgrade will be free.

GarageSale Pro subscribers don’t need to pay any upgrade fees to use GS 9.

System Requirements

  • macOS 10.12 or later

EXCELLENT!!!

Thanx!
Neal

UPDATE The behavior is very much improved on my main folder of 7,700 items. After the initial choosing of the main folder has a 7+ second spin ball, It helps to let GS sit for a few seconds before scrolling or working on the folder. After the wait you can work with the file some but they do occur again. All sub folders of 250 and less are instant with not a single spin ball. Smart group of 1430 running listings are fixed when I now do a right click

Much faster processing ‘Ended without sales’ items.

Cheers guys.

Could you try to run the “Spindump” command on GarageSale when first selecting your 7,700 items folder? Here is how it should work:

  • Restart GarageSale
  • Start the “Activity Monitor” utility
  • Select GarageSale and invoke the “Spindump” command on it
  • Go back to GarageSale and select your 7,700 items folder
  • Wait for the spindump command to finish and send the result to us.

Thanks.

Thanks for the spindump files. We fixed the the bottleneck shown in there with beta 12.

But there might be more bottlenecks hidden beneath the one fixed, so if you see the beach ball again with Beta 12, please send us another spin dump.

You were right. This one I found lurking just waiting to spin on me

Thanks for the new spindump, but it seems you might have invoked the spin dump command a little late, so only the “wind down” phase of freeing memory was recorded, and not what was initially causing the beach ball.

Duration Sampled: 10.01s (process was unresponsive for 6 seconds before sampling)

Could you please do another one or two spin dumps. Maybe we have more luck with those.

The spindump finished the report before the ball stops spinning so I don’t know if these catch the spin.

Spindump5.txt (3.7 MB)
Spindump4.txt (4.0 MB)
These are a smart group folder

Thank you. Spindump 4 and 5 didn’t provide any info, but number 6 showed another culprit wich we’ll fix with the next beta release.
