Running GS 9 and switching back to GS 8

Since GarageSale 9 uses a different application identifier, you’ll need to grant it access to each eBay token in your Mac’s keychain. When the system displays such a permission panel, please click the ‘Always Allow’ button if available.

GarageSale 9 will copy all your data from GarageSale 7 or 8 into its own library folder. In case you are encountering problems you can always switch back to GS 7/8 and continue were you left off before switching to GS9.
You’d need to use the GarageSale’s import/export functions to bring back listings changed or created with GS9 into your earlier version of GarageSale.

GarageSale 9 uses a different data schema compared to previous versions. When GarageSale 9 connects to the sync server for the first time, your account is upgraded to this new schema version.
Afterwards, earlier version of GarageSale can longer connect to the sync server.

Licensing during Beta phase

For now, GarageSale 9 Beta will accept existing GarageSale 8 licenses.

The costs for upgrading from an earlier version of GarageSale to version 9 are USD/EUR 14.99 for the single user license. If you purchased your license for GarageSale 8 after August 1st, 2021, your upgrade will be free.

GarageSale Pro subscribers don’t need to pay any upgrade fees to use GS 9.

System Requirements

  • macOS 10.12 or later

EXCELLENT!!! THANK YOU for the Toolbar Text option!!!

Text is not being disabled, and enabled, properly when the selection changes. See photo below.
Icons ARE being enabled and disabled properly. Just not the Toolbar text below the icons.

Also, Text is NOT clickable and should be clickable (only icons are clickable)… Text IS clickable in Mail and Preview apps.

Fixed. Working much better!

It appears like the “Shipping” service might now also have the same issue with a “1 second delay” before the Red “!” shows up when “No Category selected”. The Red error “!” tool tip shows “Please disable the Global Shipping Program option or choose a different category.”

How do you get text in the toolbar. Mine only has icons.

You have different apple menu items as well. Maybe because I am running 10.15.7?

You should be able to select “Customize Toolbar” from the View menu, then there should be a “Show” popup menu in the lower left corner of the dialog where you can select the Text option.

Or <right>-<click>, or <control>-<click>, the titlebar/toolbar and you should get a popup menu with theText and Icon and Customize options.

Let me know if this works for you…

I only get the option Use Small Size

Hhhmmm… Might be macOS 10.15.7???

Do you get the “Text and Icon” options in the macOS Preview or Mail apps???

I don’t in preview but do in mail.

It seems that the text labels in GarageSale’s toolbar are only available under newer macOS systems. Under older systems you can “only” move, add and remove buttons - but you don’t have the option to show text labels.

Regards, Kristian

I’m currently downloading the Monterey update. I hope my computer runs it ok.

Thanks kristan. The update to Monterey has added the Text and some other features.

After GS runs a batch of cancel and relists every folder that GS relisted in is left open. I know there is a quick way to close them but I can never remember it and a search of the HELP does not give me the info. I just took 3-4 minutes to close 120 opened folders. A button to quickly close them would be very helpful. Thanks

It’s a core Mac interface thing: option-click-on-close-button

(also, option-click-on-hide will hide them all in the dock)

Just hold down the <option> key. Click <option> to to close, or open all nested/enclosed folders.

I know to hold the option key down but what is the second thing?

Clicking on the “disclosure-triangle” to the left of the folder icon.

I restarted my computer and still nothing. I must be doing something wrong. I press the option key and click the down arrow and it closes one folder but not all of them

It will open/close all “enclosed” folders. I have made one VERY TOP level folder that contains all my folders to use to close all “enclosed” folders.

AHHHH. That did it. I have a head cold and my brain is stuffed with all kinds of cold meds. Thanks for your help!

I still think it would make a nice menu bar button addition
