I can’t open garagesale. Garagesale starts, but no windows appear. I click on show all windows and the message NO AVAILABLE WINDOWS comes up, so I assume it’s stuck in a loop trying to startup.
In the past, I’ve had a similar issue and there was not enough storage space for garagesale to start up. I have cleared all unnecessary items from my harddrive and have about 15GB available. I’m running a mac pro 2013 so I’m limited to OS12 if that makes a difference.
Can you suggest anything to help troubleshoot?
Additionally, while it won’t open any windows, on the top ribbon, I can do other things. I attempted to add a license, in case it was a lost license issue. When I requested my license through the iwascoding website, I was emailed 2 licenses for 6 and 7 though I am up to date on my subscription. I also tried to purchase another license and when trying to log in, it said my account was invalid, when I tried to make another account, it said my email was already in use. Thanks, hoping to get this back up before Tuesday as I have a helper that comes in, and we’re dead in the water without this program working.
I have two 2015 iMacs running 12.7.6. They both are running Garagesale fine with a few minor problems that I can still work around. The developers don’t have any machines that old so the issues cant be worked out. Are you up to the highest OS system that a 2013 will allow? My one machine has a 3.15 TB drive with 2.22 TB free and the other is running on a 2 TB external SSD with 1.1 TB free. Perhaps you may consider an external SSD to run and free up some working space? Or your issue may be RAM needing to be larger. Have you shut everything down except garagesale to see if it is a ram issue?
The only suggestion I can make, aside from the obvious argument of getting a cheap but reliable M1 from macsales.com or equivalent, is to consider using OpenCore Legacy Patcher to force-install a somewhat newer MacOS on hardware that won’t support it.
I was able, with some difficulties, to install Sonoma & Sequoia on an unsupported Mac mini with an Intel processor this way, and ran reliably for several years. There were a few glitches (especially some odd graphics/printing issues), but OpenCore Legacy Patcher is always under active development and it’s amazing how much functionality was included at every update. I finally gave it up only because I was able to get a cheap M1 mini from local friends who were downsizing.
But this is 100% only a feasible approach if you are comfortable making deep changes to the machine’s core software, and are not planning on using it for anything else.
I have nothing else on this computer, garagesele is all I do with it. I was working with garagesale earlier that day, added a folder of pics to listing templates, closed it and it wouldn’t open back up. The only other times I’ve had issues with it are when I’ve run out of room on the SSD, but I feel like 15gb free is a good amount, I’ve certainly had less free space before. I just backed up the “container” which I assume is where all my listings are. Can someone walk me through trying to repair the database? I tried to open GS then immediately hit the CTRL key to bring up a debugging console, but that didn’t happen. Is there another way to get there?
It’s not happening for me. I hit the CTRL button before I click on the icon and it acts as if I’m right clicking on the icon. I hold CTRL immediately after hitting open, nothing else comes up. I’m stuck on OS 12.7 if that was something new. Is there another way to get to it?
Are you up to date on garagesale? 10.6? If you are on either 6 or 7 you will never get anything to work. Ebay has changed so much on security log ins. Being up to date on subscription does not mean your program is up to date
I get the first screenshot from both the dock icon and from my HD applications folder, but not the second. I maintain holding on CTRL when clicking open, nothing else comes up after I’ve maintained the hold on the CTRL key for several seconds after. GS does open in the ribbon on the top, but no windows open as usual. Is that debugging panel from the OS or from GS? Is it possible since I’m running OS12.7 it’s not something that’s in there.

I did hook up a 500gb SSD to my mac, but I don’t know what good it would do now. assuming it’s just GS trying to run a backup while opening causing it to never actually start up because there’s not enough room? If I could install GS on that hard drive would it put the container where everything is on that drive? I don’t know enough about mac to mess with stuff like that.
OK, because there was no way for me to sleep with this thing not working, I asked google how to fix it. Google AI just ran me through a ton of steps and it is fixed now. I’m kind of blown away by how well google AI just walked me through a whole bunch of troubleshooting and got it working. I know it learned how to help me through this forum and other help articles iwascoding have posted, but seriously, wtf. I’m not a geek, I’m a regular guy and I’m in awe that I have my program back, I was able to restore my templates and hundreds of listings including all the photos. I thought for sure I’d have to rebuild everything. Crazy. Thanks to you two for helping me out as well.
That is good news! I am always glad to hear when a user can get GS problems worked out. I am thinking that GS library file needs to be in users items and wouldn’t be put on the external HD
