How do I fix this in mass? This has started happening with GS 9.8.1 when using the Product search feature and letting GS fill in attribute fields. It is very time consuming to have to click the - button for each listing. Is there any way to do it in batch? This is for VHS tapes [movies] category on the US ebay.com site. Screen shots to show the issue:
Sure. I scanned the barcode into the Product search feature. Some of the barcodes I used:
0043396068889
0786936157635
0707729951339
These 3, for example, all showed Foreign Films plus Foreign Language in the preview area, but obviously for the user, they are drop-downs and I can only select one. The only way to clear that from the drop down is to pick something else, then pick the proper genre. Or to click the - symbol in the preview area. But honestly this shouldn’t happen in the first place, and when scanning dozens of items, having to manually go in and delete extra attributes or trim fields [books often put titles that are super long in GS, and some items I have noticed have a Reviews field that has paragraphs of text, but it too is limited by 65 characters].
For me, using GS is about being efficient and there are many times where I have to do a lot of manual work because the automated stuff doesn’t work as intended .
The product data comes from the eBay system and I can only assume these “double values” are part of that data. Maybe their data is faulty or there is something else going on there.
Maybe @ilja or @Paul have an idea?
Interesting indeed! Sadly, preflight rejects that if you try to list it with 2 genres.
I ran into another one here:
0849803096892
This is a Funko Pop! Vinyl and it has 2 themes assigned to it - “Movies” and “Action & Adventure”
Trying to list this item, preflight complains about the 2 themes.
So both the Theme and the Genre attributes for these 2 categories can accept more than one value, but not via the eBay listing API? But the “fetch data” API, does indeed allow the fetching of both values? This seems like an eBay issue with the listing API, but when doing mass imports and such, it does take time to have to verify and fix the bad data in the listing.
Forgot to mention another issue with 0849803096892 is that Type is also doubled up. Shows both “Vinyl Figure” and “Pop! Vinyl” but only one Type is supported.
EDIT: and that can not be fixed easily in the Preview section as there is no - symbol when you hover over that selection.
It was in a dropdown and no way to clear the field. I even tried to change it to the same value as the first dropdown, and preflight still complained. The only option was to go into the attributes section, pick a different type, then go back and pick type again. For the other errors, I could hover in the Preview area and there was a - to click on, but for some reason Type there isn’t. I believe that’s because Type is required, so you must include that in the listing, so there’s no - for the field.
I did not realize one could enter that field in Preview mode and type in it. I thought one was “forced” to pick a value from the drop down! That is much quicker doing it your way.
I wonder why GS is fetching 2 different values for Type for that kind of product?

Is there any way for GS to ignore the extra data? I found another item - a book - that has values for Reviews, Topic, and Book Title and they are all 65+ characters long:
9781400032310
I know this is different than having multiple values per attribute, but it still stops preflight if one doesn’t run the remove 65+ characters script before validating.
