GS 9.9.3 does not load listings data from 9.9.2, all listing disappeared

I just tried to upgrade to 9.9.3 from 9.9.2 and upon start of the app I was greeted with the setup prompt asking me to enter my eBay site, zip, etc. just like I’m starting it first time ever and then when it opened I had a clean empty list with no listing, i.e. everything was reset. When roll back to the previous version everything re-appeared again, which was a huge relief  . I seems that 9.9.3 initialezed a new database or stores everything in a different location. I checked and /Users/$USER/Library/Containers still has only one com.iwascoding.garagesale9 data folder, don’t see any new folders created by 9.9.3. What am I missing, why the new (minor) version of GS does not see and pickup data from 9.9.2? Please advice, thank you!

You could perhaps use an application similar to AppCleaner to see if there are other folders and files that could not be found with Spotlight or a similar search.

When you drag a app’s icon onto AppCleaner’s icon it will find all the folders and files associated with that app.

You then have the option of deleting all those folders and files, but of course instead of deleting anything you are simply trying to locate them.

I am curious if this same error would occur if you installed the new version as a separate app as opposed to upgrading the existing version? When I version of GS I always rename it my adding the version number after “Garage Sale”. This insures that the old version is not overwritten.

I actually do the same, i.e. rename the previous version and drop in the new one. This allowed me to roll back and get back in business instantly when the new 9.9.3 version failed to load my old data and initialized a fresh empty depo. Still trying to figure out why this happened. Will try your tip, let’s see what happens. Thank you for the advise, really appreciate it! PS: no word from the dev on the issue, strange.

9.9.3 had a minute or 2 of a glitch when I first opened it but it resolved itself. GS lost my license and was asking for me to enter it. The preference panel said it was a demo copy and I had only a few listings I could do. GS found it as I frantically looked in my emails for it and has been working fine ever since

Hopefully the devs will help @uladz soon. And yikes. Yeah, I won’t update to 9.9.3 till after the holiday rush is over with. Too many other things to keep me busy - don’t want GS to cause even more busy-ness!

Normally, the internal update mechanism works quite robustly. I am currently not aware of any issues with the update from 9.9.2 to 9.9.3.
That’s why I can only assume that something strange happened during your update. What you could try this time is to download GarageSale 9.9.3 directly from the GarageSale website, install it on your Mac and then start it.

Before trying this make sure you have a backup. Just in case.
