I am getting a false error return from ebay when revising. DUPLICATE LISTING?

I am getting a false error return from ebay. The error says duplicate listing when I try to just revise not start a new listing. I restarted GS and went to 9.9.2 and still get the same error

Could it be that you have selected the Relist option instead of the Revise option maybe?

I am hitting the relist button that is on the menu bar at the top. Must have been a temp glitch. Both the revise entire and revise select only button is now working on all but 1 listing that I checked

FWIW, I had the same issue last week. I waited a bit, and tried again, and all was well. I coughed it up to an eBay glitch [which lately, for me, has been happening more often].

UPDATE I can report an update to this issue. GS made 2 listings at the exact same time on Feb 15, 2026 06:22:42 AM PST but they had 2 different item numbers. GS wouldn’t let me update the one because the other triggered the duplicates notice. This is a concerning development. How often is this happening?

In the 20+ years of GarageSale existence I have never heard of or experienced an issue where GarageSale starts the same listing twice by itself. In fact, I’m not even sure if that’s technically possible.

Couldn’t it be that you somehow created two copies of the listing (e.g. by duplicating it) and started both?
Another idea: Did you maybe import (one of) the listings from eBay and that’s why you have two copies of the listing in GarageSale?¿

The price, shipping cost, and quantity are different on the item because I revised it and that is when I discovered the issue. They were started by using the scheduler while my computer was resting overnight on feb 15(note the start times and completely different ebay item numbers on both). I haven’t imported from ebay for 5 years because of the integrating of the description and photos.

Did you notice that each listing was uploaded to another eBay account?

That means you was using the eBay scheduler option, did I get this correctly?

The “Martin Manor Antique Hardware” is my store name. rlmartinmanor is my user name. Yes, the scheduler started the listings. It was set to restart 30 listings before I started work at 7 am. Clicking the “rlmartinmanor” on the ebay listing takes me to my “Martin Manor Antique Hardware” store page

To be more specific, the eBay scheduler started the listing(s)?
You uploaded the listing to eBay with the eBay scheduler option activated. If you do so, it’s eBay that starts the listing at the given time (not GarageSale).

NO, GS scheduler. The last orange colored in my screen shot

GS flagged 3 other listings as duplicates before accepting the problem one. Every other day since looks fine. I was running 9.9.2 on feb 15

The others flagged as duplicate listings did NOT get duplicated on ebay

Crazy development… Ebay has corrected the incorrect user/storename on an ended listing.

FYI I did find a second listing that was duplicated the same day…Feb 15. There are 2 different ebay item numbers for the exact same listing created 1 second apart. The listing didn’t return a duplicates flag when the scheduler started the duplicates. The last one that says “missing title” is the other listing that was created as a duplicate and now says missing I assume because I ended it.

Regarding username/store name - this happens all the time for me - if I do peak into Live mode in GS, my listing had no user avatar/icon, and just lists my username. Visiting the link in Safari, shows my avatar and proper full store name. sometimes in Live mode it will show that too, but more often than not, it does not [I am also not logged in to eBay in Live mode]. This has been an issue I’ve seen for over a year, with how eBay sometimes messes up the username/icon. I have even seen it happen in Safari and as logged into my buyer’s account too. So any issue with user/icon not being correct, is something on eBay’s end, nothing in the world of GS.

That is good to know. I was thinking that is why or how GS made 2 duplicates. I found the second duplicate by checking GS totals against ebays totals in my ebay hub.

I think it’s mainly a cosmetic thing on eBay’s site. I’m unsure why it happens, but yeah, thankfully not linked to your duplicate issue
