No, this has nothing to do with the macOS version. This is only code within GarageSale and its database.
Can you please try to start GarageSale, immediately press control-option and select the following options in the panel that appears:
Hopefully that fixes your database, as GarageSale did the index-rebuild when I started it with your data.

It works now.
It works now, I got this (ignore the color on the right, I had to move it). But when GS restarted again it said 988 orphaned objects removed and my smart group operated correctly.
