This has been happening a lot lately and once it starts no matter what I do I can’t seem to get it to work again but then randomly another day it will just work again. Very annoying when it prevents you from uploading listings when this happens. For eg, today I uploaded about 8-10 listings without issues and then this started again and no matter how many listings I try I get the same error and the bar moves along to the same spot and then I get a timeout or something and the error attached. I have tried quiting the app and rebotting my macbook air M1 and it still is giving this error…
Is there any workaround to fix this problem so I can upload my listings? Am I the only one having this problem?
Now all the sudden it just started working again and nothing has changed? I’d just like to figure out when this happens what is the cause? Are there some logs I can send or look at to try and help figure out what causes this?
I managed to get about 10-15 listings uploaded without issue and now it has started again. I can tell when its happening again as when it is doing the uploading it always gets to the same place on the progress bar and then just sits there. If it’s longer then 10 seconds it’s not going to work. I’ve tried 3 times now and same problem after the timeout which seems to take about 5 mins or so each time before I can try again. Very annoying…
Based on your response with your experience and my experiences clearly their photo server is having some issues but it’s been going on for quite some time. It seems to go up and down often. Hopefully they will respond with an acknowledgement of the situation and a potential resolution?
It has been happening for years. I have reported it a couple of times thinking the GS server might be down but then it corrects itself.
I seem to remember, many years back, that GS was going to automatically retry listing the failed listings. Maybe that was just wishful thinking.
At the moment there is nothing you can do but try to list them again.

Well that’s not really acceptable to me when I am paying for a pro subscription. I would think everyone else agrees with that? Even the developer I am sure. Hopefully we can work to find a solution to this as it really is not productive at all and costing me a lot of wasted time, which time wasted is money when many of us run this as a business…
Right now it’s been down for nearly half an hour. Does anyone know the name of the photo server so I can at least trying seeing if I can ping the server when it is up to see if I can a response. If that works I can at least use this to see when it is up or down rather then the current waste of time when you have to keep trying to list the same items.
I must say I’m surprised that no one from the company that makes Garage Sale wants to look into this or at least comment acknowledging the problem. It’s really too bad because it is such great software otherwise. I have not posted a review yet for this software but if this isn’t resolved or at least acknowledged soon I will be sure to note this in my review as I think it would be a deal breaker for many.
Definitely not excusing the lack of reply from the devs [I too have been frustrated by bugs that affect the app], but something I use which may be a possibility for you - WebDAV over SSL. I run my own servers, so it’s a bit easier, but if you have a domain somewhere, having a folder you host via WebDAV, can greatly help this issue, as I don’t touch GS image servers - my images are uploaded to my own server, which I’m responsible for and can fix if issues arise. Perhaps I should offer this server/service to other GS users? But seriously - if you can setup a shared web folder as they are also known as, GS plays very nicely with it, and I’ve not had any issues hosting images. My biggest issue is my slow Internet connection so it takes a while to upload images, even after post processing via JPMEGmini Pro ; but that’s an issue I’d have no matter where I upload.
looked through the logs on our servers and could not find any errors. But we are in the middle of a migration of our image- and syncing-servers. Last night (here in European time) this leads to a high load on these server which may lead to a timeout for some of the image upload requests.
As these servers handle a lot of data we have decided to move them to a bigger node. To accomplish that the multi-TB of data needs to be copied. This may lead to timeouts in the next couple of days (hopefully not weeks). We do our best to keep all the services running.
The download of the images (for actually running listings) should not be affected.
Sorry for not letting you know earlier that we have to do maintenance of the servers. We will send out a note here on the forum when we will actually migrate the (image-, syncing-) servers (and if there will be planned outages). Also we will inform you when the services should be working again.
Thanks for the info. I tried to list 30 at 10:30 PM est in the US and 27 went to ebay with 3 false starts. GS would not even load enough to get the timeout note. 3 would not go at all no matter what I tried, restarted GS and whole computer and tried to use ebay’s picture service instead of GS free picture service. 10 hours later 33 went on to ebay as normal with no issues
