If I have an item selected in the smart group, Ready to Ship in the orders page, and I go back to the listings page, and then back to the orders page, the selection is only selected in the now open Orders group [I always keep that area closed since it is a huge long list]. Closing that list then back to the top as the All Sold smart list also opens. Why can’t the focus stay on the item in the smart group? It only takes a few seconds to scroll, but it happens So. Many. Times. A. Day…that it seems like this could be fixed. Similar to how text fields randomly loose focus - happens so often that it causes a lot of friction. Both issues have been happening for over a year, but today it just bothered me enough to spend the time to report it.
Because GarageSale only remembers the internal IDs of the selected items, and unfortunately not if the selection was in a smart group or not. We will think about how to get this fixed.
Do you recall when this happens for which text fields?
Yes - Listing Title and Listing description are the 2 that it happens to me most in. I nearly exclusively live in Preview Mode when creating a listing [Editor Mode, for me, is when I am creating a new template]. I’m a touch typist, so I rarely look at my keyboard. I also tend to try to find ways not to use my trackpad but for item description and listing title, I do click into those fields. For Listing Title I always have the name of my template [eg: PlayStation 3 game, or Magazine Lot], as I have several attributes pre-filled, shipping policy filled, etc. I have a simple “Text goes here.” for listing descriptions. For title, just the name of the template. When I click in to remove the template text or to edit a listing title that I realized as I was inspecting the item, needs revised, the focus stays for just a bit, then poof, goes away.
It was mentioned by another GS user here that they experienced this too and a restart of the app fixes it for a bit, but then it starts again.
For listing description, I use an inventory app that I type that into, and then select my “Text goes here.” and paste my description on top. Sometimes after selecting the filler text, the selection goes away and I have to select it again before pasting.
For me, the title is the one that gives me the most grief as it happens very, very often. Like a recent listing of mine auto-corrected Elph into Alpha and after I noticed it, I tried to go in to edit it, and the focus just would not stick the first time.
Oh, and to clarify what I mean when I say “listing title” field - I mean the one at the very top of the Preview mode window, just above the Buy It Now price field. But when in my GS template [a Pro template], I sometimes will try and type into that listing title field to edit something and the same issue happens [eg: the listing title field right above the item description inside the Pro template’s layout]
I just realized I replied to the wrong thread….doh. It was for the fix that keeps focus on an item in a smart group when switching modes. Eg: I have an order highlighted in “Ready To Ship” smart group, but then enter the listings mode of GS to do something; then go back to the orders mode, and the order is no longer highlighted; sounded like that is fixed from the release notes, which would be awesome.
I will try and test out the beta on my laptop later today!
