It’s bug reporting weekend…macOS 14.3.1 and GS 9.7.5. I have magazines and books for sale on my eBay store that I have listed in GS. Some have sold, some are still selling. They are Reader’s Digest. But searching for “Reader’s” [without the quotes] results in no hits. Searching “Digest” results in the selling and sold listings showing up.
So it seems one can not use an apostrophe in the Find/Search field when searching listings.
I just tried it here in GarageSale 9.8beta but it seems to work fine for me. Do you maybe use too specific search settings? (click on the magnifying glass icon)
An update. I confirmed that Reader’s Digest is using the apostrophe character. But searching for Reader`s [the quote that is near the US ESC key], brings the results up just fine.
I did this because I noticed the font in the search field displays the ’ as being straight up and down, but the character in the listing is slanted to the left.
I also did a search for Country’s and that worked.
I will note that when using the ` quote [the one by the ESC key], it seems to ignore the ’ character as it found listings with Readers [eg: not Reader’s].
However I can’t explain how/why the search for Country’s came up with the correct results when Reader’s didn’t. The quote marks used in all the titles are the same.
Another clue:
If I search Reader’ [the correct apostrophe, but without the letter s], then GS finds both Reader’s Digest and Readers. So something isn’t being properly escaped behind the scenes.
