Been trying to enable synchronization on my macs. I’ve transferred my GarageSale Data folder and the .com.apple.containermanagerd.metadata.plist from the MacBookPro to my MacPro.
I’ve uninstalled (clean) and reinstalled on both computers, placed the database mentioned above to one and tried having that as the master to write with, then the other, both had the same error.
"Enabling Synchronization failed
Synchronization could not be enabled because an error occurred. Please try again later."
Maybe there is an issue with your internet connection or network. Are you sure that your internet connection doesn’t get interrupted and that your Mac stays awake (doesn’t enter sleep mode) during the sync upload?
My internet is ok and sleep function on my computer is on manual (as opposed to auto).
The “Downloading data…” stops at the same point and give’s the failure pop-up. Maybe there’s something corrupted on the cloud where it’s trying to download the data? Or is actually uploading?
Solved it. There might have been some corrupt or incompatible data from the user container file that I was importing.
I ended up “Exporting” the listings and starting with a clean slate with GarageSale. Then “Imported” the listings, after which I enabled “Syncing”. It was able to upload and now it’s actually downloading on my other mac.
Thanks! It’s probably because I’ve had a few years and many different versions of data in there - corruption was bound to happen. Glad I was still able to export the data and make it all work. I appreciate your assistance in diagnosing the issue! I hope what we found will help someone who might run into the same issue. Cheers!
