I messed up and did a fresh install on my new imac . I have tried over and over to get my old data back. I see all my auctions etc. But no templates and no access to the items I had scheduled to list last week. Help I am lost…
- Which version of GarageSale were you using?
- If it was version 6, did you use the version from the Mac App Store, or did you download and purchase it via our website.
- Do you still have your old Mac around?
The old mac is here. It shows a flashing file when you try to power it on.
I started with 5 then upgraded to 6 thats what I guess I installed this Saturday when I purchased this new one.
I have been sending emails to garage sale and have gotten replies and instruction on how to retrieve my old information. I attempted this and got nothing. I called apple they tried to help me no luck there. They said maybe someone from garage sale could call me and prompt me through it.
As long as you don’t get your hands on the data from your old Mac, there’s not much we can do. If you already got access to you old Macs data, then disregard the rest of this post.
Here is what I would try:
-
Depending on the type of Mac, it try to remove the hard drive containing all my data and hook the hard drive up to my new Mac to get its data. This might not be possible your your Mac has an SSD that’s soldered to the main board. Here is a great collection of repair guides: https://www.ifixit.com/Device/Mac

Once you have the hard drive recovered, try hooking it up to your new Mac by using a device similar to this one: https://www.amazon.com/iDsonix-U3102-Drive-Docking-Station/dp/B00FDLCTQO/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&qid=1466584316&sr=8-9&keywords=sata+usb+adapter or this one: https://www.amazon.com/ZTC-Enclosure-Adapter-SuperSpeed-ZTC-EN004-BK/dp/B00KQ4LNJC/ref=sr_1_1?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1466584441&sr=1-1&keywords=m2+to+usb (depending on the hard dive type)
Hope this helps.
