GarageSale 9.4 almost unusable. iMac MacOS 12.1
“Item Specifics” causes spinning beachball. Have to wait several minutes for it to stop, or Force Quit
GarageSale.
Is there a way to revert to an earlier version of GS until this is fixed?
I am sorry to hear. Before going back to GarageSale 9.3 would you be so kind and provide us with some diagnostic data so we can try to fix the hangs?
Please follow these instructions to gather more diagnostic data:
Launch GarageSale 9.4 if you don’t have it already running
Open the “Activity Monitor” application (you find it in the Finder in the “Applications” > “Utilities” folder)
Select GarageSale from the list of running applications in Activity Monitor
Now do something you are pretty sure that will cause the beachball/hang to come up for several seconds.
Then quickly switch back to Activity Monitor and from the “View” menu select “Sample Process” (Activity Monitor will probably ask you for an admin password at this point)
Wait while the sample is taken
Save the sample output into a text file and send it to me or post it here.
I am having this same issue. As a result, I’m constantly forcing the application to quit and restarting it. It often occurs when I attempt to remove an item specific. The - sign next to the item specific will stay highlighted as if I have moused over it even after moving the mouse away.
Also, could you provide us with some diagnostic data?

I’m trying to determine a pattern to it. I know what ultimately seems to trigger it, but it doesn’t happen every time. That makes doing a screen recording difficult. Hopefully I figure out a way to make it happen on demand and then can provide more information.
I have also lately seen the occasional short (<1-2 seconds) spinning beachball or “stuttering” recently. Noticeable while scrolling the left-side listings list up and down.
We still cannot reproduce the issue on any of our Macs. Nevertheless, here is a version to improves the preview update mechanism slightly. Please give it a try and send it another sample file if the situation does not improve:
If you still should experience hangs, please provide us with some diagnostic data.

I have had a similar problem and it seems that when editing items prior to listing the ITEM SPECIFICS
tree opens but fails to have the Close Window option available so that window stay open during all editing .
I have to click and drag it in order to reveal the three buttons at the top left in order to close. Sometimes that doesn’t not work and the whole GarageSale app stalls for ever unless i force quite the computer.
