Listings jump all over on Tag change

This is not a new issue but has continued for 6-9 months. I didn’t record when it started. On changing a group in smart groups to a new tag color they flicker or jump for 5 seconds and if you highlight the jumping listings it causes an even longer freak out. Not the end of the world but just reporting it for consideration. I made a screen shot video but cant edit it to upload it. It is 30 MB.

Cool, I got it on dropbox!

Thank you for making that video. That really looks trippy.

What version of macOS are you using?

Also, does this issue still occur after downloading the latest beta version of GarageSale 9.9.1 and a restart of your Mac?

12.7.6 os and running 9.9.1b3
I hadn’t thought about the os. I have 2 iMacs (Retina 5K, 27-inch, Late 2015) that apple refuses to update because they have 4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 chip set. I don’t plan buying new because apple quit making 27" iMacs and I built these up to the max with chips and processors.
Its possible that the OS is also causing the 2-3 second delay hesitation with a spinning ball when changing listings? This happened when I started using GS picture service so I assumed that was the cause. It speeds up after the first click if I back up 1 listing and do the process again.
Like I said it’s annoying for 5 seconds and not the end of the world.

Any update or information on this issue?

It’s hard to tell where this is coming from without knowing your complete smart group setup. Also, we don’t have any Macs cable of running macOS 12 anymore.

If you send us your zipped GarageSale.leveldb directory, and we can replicate it, that a fix should be possible.

Here is a upload link to our dropbox: Dropbox

Sorry, I would send the GarageSale.leveldb if I knew where to find it. HD search has 0 results. And how to zip it. Thanks

  1. Select “Open Library Folder” from GarageSale’s Help menu.
  2. In that Finder window locate the folder called “GarageSale.leveldb”.
  3. Right-click on it and select the “Compress” command. This will create a “zip” version of your “GarageSale.leveldb”.
  4. Upload this zip file to Dropbox by using the link provided by Ilja.

Thanks for the help. Nice that you have this option built in to GS. The file is on dropbox. Thanks for the help!

That’s nice. Didn’t know about it either.

Downloaded your data, and tried to replicate the problem in vain on macOS 14.7. It’s probably an issue with your particular macOS version or something else that differs between our setups.

Thanks for the try. Like I said a little annoying but not the end of the world. Eventually my 2015 computer with break and force me to upgrade. Until that happens, I hope GS will continue to run as well as it does. I guess I will be the “canary in the coal mine” if you make a change that has a disastrous effect on an old OS.
